“This has to be one of the hardest par 4s you can play in Middlesex or in many other places – the 420 yards can feel like 520 in winter when it’s a real beast. You need a fair amount of good luck – with the wind, with your tee shot as it lands on the left-to-right sloping fairway, with the berm that is a barrier 280 yards off the tee and then with the quite small, raised green. No room right, no room left, your scorecard can take a big dive and I’ll happily walk off with a five. I call it the ‘Oh, Boy!’ hole. It softens up in summer, but hitting centre left of fairway is essential.”
